Travel destination Hasselt-Kuringen
Hasselt-Kuringen
On our trip to Antwerp, we made a stopover in Hasselt. Since a big city isn't really suitable for spending the night in a camper van, we drove to the suburb of Kuringen. This small village was ideal for our overnight stay. So we quickly looked for a parking spot and then explored the area. As it turned out, I was lucky with my choice. The place is clean and has a very well-kept park.
Dinner and more...
Okay, so there's not a ton going on in Kuringen, but we found this amazing little spot with incredible food and a huge selection of Belgian beers. The place is called 'De Drie Kronen,' but I won't try to translate that for you . I had an Angus beef burger, and it was absolutely delicious—served with a heaping pile of Belgian fries, of course. My friend got the chicken kebab—meat and veggies in a pita—and it was really good too. We had draft Grimbergen Brune to drink. The waiter was super friendly and helpful, and he could even speak a little German, which isn't surprising around here. The only downside was that they were cash only. No big deal for me, though—I always carry enough cash for the whole trip, just in case.
Village pub
As the evening was still young, we decided to visit the local village pub, 'In 'T Dorp'. It was quite busy, mostly with locals. What was a bit disconcerting was that when ordering a large beer, we were given a 0.25-liter glass. This is something you don't usually encounter in Germany, but we noticed this quite often during our further travels.
We didn't stay for long, though. We had a tight schedule to keep.

Morning walk in Kuringen!
In the morning, we decided to take another walk through the park. There's also a YouTube video of the walk that you can watch below the post. The Prinsenhof and its surroundings are perfect for a relaxing stroll. There are also many birds to see and hear. That's why I didn't add any music to the video. It's also quite relaxing to just listen to the birds.
Where is Kuringen located?
Kuringen is a district of the city of Hasselt, located in the province of Limburg in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It was an independent municipality until 1977 and is situated approximately 5 kilometers northwest of Hasselt.
That's all from Kuringen. Next stop, Hasselt!
Stay tuned.
